In Memoriam.ca - Always in our hearts

  • Joanne's daughter-in-law Brianna lit a candle on 03/27/2013:
"Nana Jo, you were loyal and considerate, always. You had strong family ties and you maintained them. You were a caretaker by nature and you were forever looking after all of us. You always had a sense of duty and purpose, yet you would take the time to stop and somehow perfectly understand the nonsensical language of a two-year-old. You and your grand-babies shared a mutual adoration and they will always know how much Nana loved them. There are so many things I admire about you- from your unconditional love for your family, to your steadfast determination and efficiency, to your appreciation of life's simple pleasures- and even these qualities have a hard time stacking up next to the unfathomable strength and courage you displayed in these last few months. It seems impossible to believe you are gone. The special place you held in our family may be sadly empty now but the special place you hold in our hearts will remain forever. We love you, rest in peace."

"The sadness of the loss of you is overwhelming. How I wish I could have been there to support you after all the times you have supported me with your kindness and never-failing friendship. You were so brave. I will miss the beautiful cards, decorated with stickers, the chats over a cup of tea, the bargain hunts, the little care packages you prepared when I came down on business. But most of all I will miss you, Joanne, an incredibly special person who came into my life for too short a time and who made a huge impact on me. Sweet dreams, Joanne. The world has a new Angel in you. Love Dana "

"Joanne. You were a dear friend and I will miss you terribly. I'll never forget when I was pregnant with Bryanna 16 years ago. The whole time I was pregnant, I was craving a beer which of course I couldn't have. When you came to see me in the hospital after she was born, you had a great big grin on your face and pulled a single beer bottle out of your purse. We had a great laugh over that. You were always so thoughtful and kind and I feel very grateful that we became friends. Rest in peace and see you in the next life."
